In-plant cleaning is recommended for oriental and loose woven rugs. Area rugs should NEVER be cleaned on location in a customers home, like a wall to wall rug. B&K Carpet Cleaning LLC will pickup your rug & bring it to our specialty facility where your rug will be thoroughly cleaned using our 10 step process for maximum soil and stain removal. We let the rug decide the cleaning process based on colorfastness, fiber type, rug construction, and soil load.
In plant cleaning allows for a much more of a thorough cleaning, we are able to perform any of the following type cleanings:
Pre-inspection & Pickup - We will inspect your rug looking for any pre-existing issues, damage, or stains and document this to the owner. We will outline expected cleaning results and our process. If more convenient you may also drop off rugs to our location.
Vacuum - We start by vacuuming both sides of rug using a commercial grade high powered vacuum.
Dry Soil Removal - The single MOST IMPORTANT step in cleaning any textile. we use a dusting machine called a rug badger to literally remove pounds of trapped soil that could never be removed by vacuuming alone. In fact the Eureka Co. did a study and found that a 9×12 rug could hold as much as 87 Pounds of dirt! We are always amazed at the amount of sand, dirt, and grit that is removed even after repeated vacuuming.
Pre-conditioning - We then apply wool safe pre conditioners to your rugs to loosen and emulsify the soils. These wool safe conditioners are then gently worked into the fibers using a soft bristled counter rotating brush machine. This process by itself makes your rug begin to brighten and colors start to POP and show their beauty.
Pre-spot and Fringe Preparation - Any stains that require spotting will be addressed at this time. The fringe is also pre treated at this time for maximum soil removal.
Shampooing - Most rugs are then cleaned using a high quality wool safe oriental rug cleaning shampoo designed specifically to achieve maximum cleaning results while protecting natural fibers.
Rinse or Wash - Your rug is then either rinsed with extraction equipment on both sides, or placed into a pit designed especially for oriental rugs.
Drying - After cleaning and thoroughly rinsing your rug of all remaining residue , it is either dried flat or most likely hung on our drying racks in a controlled environment to expedite the drying process. Proper drying is essential to prevent / avoid unnatural shrinkage.
Finishing and Protector Application - After drying is complete, we then groom your rug with specially designed brushes to set the pile, and apply an encapsulant protector to prolong your rugs lasting beauty.
Post Inspection and Delivery - We will make a final inspection to insure a quality clean, and release rug for pickup or delivery back to the customer.
